How is a Chin Implant Procedure Performed?
The majority of the chin implants done in our office are done using solid silicone-based (Silastic) implants that are placed on the surface of the bone. The surgery requires meticulous creation of a very precise pocket in the space between the periosteum (connective tissue covering the bone) and the bone of the mandible. When done correctly, the implant should be held firmly in position permanently and not shift or migrate over time. The implant ultimately feels like bone and should be undetectable to both look and touch.
A weak or poorly projected chin is a feature commonly addressed and treated at Bitner Facial Plastic Surgery. This procedure, done alone or in combination with other procedures such as rhinoplasty or facelift, is an excellent option and provides beautiful and natural results.
